BREAKING NEWS

Man fatally shot by RCMP in Sagkeeng

One man is dead after an RCMP officer involved shooting on Sagkeeng First Nation Tuesday.
On Nov. 18 at 6:38 am, Powerview RCMP responded to a residence in Sagkeeng following two 911 calls of a male armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was holding a knife. An encounter occurred where the police officer discharged their firearm.
The male sustained a serious injury, and officers immediately provided medical aid until EMS arrived.
The 29-year-old male was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The officers involved were wearing body worn cameras, which were activated upon arrival at the scene, and were not injured during the incident. The videos will be turned over to the Independent Investigation Unit, which has taken carriage of the officer-involved shooting investigation.
Powerview RCMP, along with officers from Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services, continue to investigate.

RCMP search for Springfield truck theft suspect
RCMP are looking to identify a male in connection with the theft of a truck in Springfield.
On Nov. 17 at 3:32 p.m., Oakbank RCMP received a report of a stolen red pickup truck from a business on Gunn Road in the RM of Springfield. Surveillance cameras on site captured the pickup truck leaving the property at 12:33 p.m.
Shortly after, the owner of the truck noticed transactions on his credit card, which was left in the vehicle.
Police were able to track these transactions and identify the businesses where the credit card was used. Video footage from the businesses shows a male exiting a black Ford F-150 truck that was also identified as being stolen, but from a location in Winnipeg.
On Nov. 19 at 10:19 a.m., Oakbank RCMP located the stolen red pickup truck at the arena on Almey Avenue in Oakbank. When they arrived officers arrested a 32-year-old female from Long Plain First Nation, who was sleeping inside the truck, for possession of property obtained by crime.
Oakbank RCMP is asking the public for assistance to identify the male that was seen in the stolen black truck. Anyone with information on the identity of this male or in relation to this theft is asked to please contact the detachment at 204-444-3391, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com
